How to get a case retried in Detroit’s 36 district court?
I recently received 9 months probation, $455 in total fees, M.A.D.D. and Marijuana Addiction seminars, random drug testing while on probation, and Mental Counseling all for an M.I.P. in which I blew a .019 B.A.C. This is my first offense but this sentencing still seems a little steep. I was charged along with my friend who was the driver of the car. He should have been facing 2 other felonies (DWI and felony possession of marijuana and vicodin) along with an M.I.P. but the cop let him off easy when we got pulled over. We each ended up with the same sentencing.
Is there anyway for me to hire a attorney and retry my case or am I fuckd for the next 9 months…?
You can always try to hire an attorney, I know of many who have paid their way out of trouble, instead of facing the consequences. If you have ever lost a child to a drunk driver, you would in no way, think your sentence was harsh! You were with your friend, you became an accessory, remember you are the company you keep!
