What is going to happen to my license?
I thought my license had been suspeneded back in June of 08 after the state of NJ finished the Chun case which was holding up thousands of DUI cases in NJ. I recently found out that my license wasnt suspended and that I had a warrant out for failure to appear. I was never informed of the date. I didnt start community service yet because I have til end of my suspension to do 180 hrs and have to take drivers class. Am I going to lose the 8 months I thought my license was suspended for? This is my second DUI and I plead guilty and paid my fines in full. I was allowed to drive until the case was over. I never turned my license over to DMV. I thought my license was suspended and I had an extra license that I use as an id. What will happen to me? If jail how long? I did comply with my fines. The court never sent me a letter about warrant and all I ever got from my lawyer was an invoice for him showing up in court and me not.
First off, you were notified. You just either never got it, or ignored it. They don’t do this stuff and laugh as they plan on not telling the person. Did you move? Do you check your mail? Trust me, they notified you.
Second, you’re definitely losing your license. It’s up to you to take care of this stuff, and you didn’t. You don’t get “back time” for your license. It’s gone, and your fines will be higher too. This is on your record for seven years as well. It’s no one’s fault but your own.
