How Can I get my police report?
I recieved a DUI in the city of Rocklin, California in Placer county I called the District Attorney’s office and they told me I cannot see the police report until after the arraignment, however I would like to see the Report before hand because I am not sure If I want to plea guilty or not guilty.
John, that doesn’t answer my question at all. How can I get the police report?
You know what you did, or did not do. There is no sense in seeing what the officer put in the report before you plea. You need to consult an attorney if you want to review the report. An attorney knows what kind of paperwork to file to get those documents. If you are representing yourself the DA will not assist you in preparing your defense. I urge you to plea guilty if you know that you are. If not, Hire a lawyer so that you don’t screw it up. I have been in court, with a defendant who wanted to appeal his license being revoked after a DUI. He represented himself. When I arrested him he refused to take the states breath test. I read him the implied consent test request which is similar to miranda in the state of Oklahoma for DUI arrests. In the request it states that if he refused then his license would be revoked. In court he agreed that I read him the request, but tried to have the revocation dismissed because I did not explain to him that if he refused, he would be revoked. He only made himself look ignorant.
