Charged in Ontario Youth Court – Need Help Immediately!?
Hey guys,
I have several criminal and traffic charges pending against me. I am currently the accused. I never admitted to the crimes. The courts, with me being a youth, offered me EJS where I’d have to attend a behavioral course once weekly for 3 months, after which the charges would be cleared. I denied, being cocky about the lack of evidence and holes in the case, and plead not guilty. Now, court is in 4 days and I have done nothing in preparation for the trial. I don’t even have a lawyer.
If I go on my court date, will I still be able to accept EJS? Or did I miss my opportunity?
I live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada just for the record, and this is my first offense. I am being charged in youth court, by the way.

You SHOULDN’T be allowed to accept the EJS, but our system is so soft on youth crime that chances are good that you’ll be allowed to take it.
The idea behind the YCJA (youth criminal justice act) is that young people make stupid decisions sometimes and should be given an opportunity to realize and fix it.
The only way that you will be allowed into EJS is if you have a MAJOR attitude shift next time you go to court.
