is it legal to aliminated your position,after work injury while still under doctors care?

i was off work for 6 months,after auto accident in company car i received wc.i went back to work still under doctors care.i had surgery disk fusion,a concussion from the accident.my owners,returned to memphis,after 7 months aliminatng my position after 14 yrs.i am now drawing unemployment.my lawyer is sueing their uim.

Do you live in the US? My experience with workers comp is that companies typcially do not fire the employee if they are on workers comp.

If you are not receiving workers comp you were covered under FMLA for 12 weeks. Have you returned to work and then was fired? If you are still off work there is probably not much you can do. I would be interested to hear what the lawyer has to say.
